Equipment Issues

If you have a problem with a piece of equipment, be sure to go through it and check it out before you take it to the PEC for help.  If your footage counter isn't working, be sure to check the mag to see if:
there is a daylight spool in it
or
if the counter arm is engaged

  1. Remember to make sure you have both core adapters for both mags before sending your film to the lab. If you send a core adapter to the lab, you will not likely get it back and it will cost you to replace it. Be diligent.

  2. Another reminder -
When checking out any equipment from any rental facility - it is the responsibility of the production company to assemble the gear, test the gear and ensure that the equipment is complete and in working order. If one rents or checks out a piece of equipment from any provider/facility and finds later that a piece is missing or is not working properly - that is not the provider's fault. That is the fault of the user who did not adequately check/prep the equipment.

Further, equipment used leaves every provider with the expectation that it is complete and in working order, so if you find that it is not, and you return it incomplete or in non-working condition, you could well find yourself being charged for the equipment - even though you did not damage nor lose anything.

Save time and money - Be diligent.

After all, what is the advantage of checking out equipment that you cannot use, because it either does not work or is missing a crucial piece.

This is true for the PEC as well as for ALL PROFESSIONAL VENDORS - and in fact, the professional vendors will likely be less forgiving than the PEC.
